The Edgar Allan Poe Tour

Edgar Allan Poe
Jan 19 1809 -Oct. 7 1849

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. “
“’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—
Only this, and nothing more.”

The Complete Edgar Allan Poe Richmond Tour

For the discerning Poe connoisseur,
we’ve created the ultimate Edgar Allan Poe tour in his favorite city, Richmond.
We’ll ride to the locations connected to his
life, love, and family.

In a private vehicle, we’ll explore where the Allan home was,
the infamous ‘enchanted garden’ at Linden Row,
and his statue at the Capitol.

Two different cemeteries are on the list.
St. John’s Graveyard is his mother’s resting place, and then the Shokoe Hill cemetery is where we find 2 of his loves and the Allans’ graves.

The journey will pass by Elmira Royster Shelton’s house and the former home of Elizabeth Van Lew’s home where he recited ‘The Raven’ to an audience in the parlor.

No trip is complete without a stop at the Poe Museum and the largest collection of Poe memorabilia.
